I really like this item, though I will admit I was confused about how it was supposed to work. After drenching it in water and waiting a bit for it to expand (like the directions advised) it worked relatively well with the soap bar I bought. It is not very soft, like most cotton poofs would be, but it does get off the sweat and oils a lot better than what I used before. Just be careful of the edges as they can be more rough and sharp than the middle sponge. Also seemed to cause minor irritation, but that could just be from first use. If anything can be improved, I would like the package to describe directions of use (such as parts of the body to use it on and parts to avoid for first time loofah users like me). Wonderful product!
